There are two work cycles within multi-axis machining:

Cycle 3 + 2: the fourth and fifth axes remain fixed, they only move in the step of a
process to another, while the X, Y, Z axes move simultaneously.
Simultaneous 5-axis cycle: de 5 axes move at the same time, thus reducing the
machining times and a better finish of the piece.

What is 5-axis machining?
5-axis machining provides endless possibilities for part sizes and shapes that you can process efficiently. The term “5 as” refers to the number of directions in which the cutting tool can move. In a 5-axis machining center, the cutting tool moves through the linear X, Y, and Z axes, and rotates about the A and B axes to access the workpiece from any direction. In other words, you can process all five faces of a part in one assembly.
How Does the 5 Axis CNC Machine Work?
It is based on a complex system calculated computationally taking into account the kinematics of the rotational axes of the machine. A 5-axis CNC works in practically the same way as a three-axis CNC (X, Y, Z), except that the table allows you to put the part in an inclined or isometric position, allowing machining in previously impossible ways.

The software that controls the machine is capable of calculating the position in which the planes change, in order to stay localized and synchronized with the coordinates of the center of rotation of the tools. Regarding this, although the movements were first managed as 3 + 2, dat is, the three historical axes (X, Y, Z) plus two new alternative axes on the table. New systems have evolved to perform synchronized movements of all axes simultaneously.
