What's the process of milling?

Milling is the use of rotating tools to feed (or feed) the workpiece in an angle from the axis of the cutter to remove the workpiece. It covers a wide range of operations and machines, ranging from small individual parts to large, heavy duty milling operations.

1, high productivity, milling, continuous rotation of the milling cutter, and allows higher milling speed, and therefore has a higher productivity.

2, intermittent cutting, milling, each cutter teeth are intermittent cutting, especially end milling, milling force fluctuations, so the vibration is inevitable. The vibration is the most serious when the frequency of vibration is the same or multiple of the machine's natural frequency. In addition, when the high speed milling, the blade must undergo periodic cold and thermal impact, which is prone to cracks and chipping, which makes the tool durability decline.

3, the multi knife multi cutting milling cutter has many cutter teeth, and the total length of the cutting edge is large, which is beneficial to improve the tool durability and productivity. But there are two aspects of the following problems: one is prone to cutter runout, which will cause the cutter tooth load range, uneven wear, affecting the quality of the machined surface; two is the tooth chip space must be sufficient, otherwise it will damage the knife tooth.

4, the milling method is different. According to the different processing conditions, in order to improve the tool durability and productivity, we can choose different milling methods, such as reverse milling, progressive milling or symmetrical milling, asymmetric milling.
